Speech-to-Text for Online Media
July 8, 2008 – 2:34 pmI’m currently looking into a solution for converting words spoken in online videos or podcasts to text that can be included next to the content and easily be indexed by a major search engine.
At the moment there is apparently no free, effective solution that I know of.
There seems to be three approaches to said dilemma:
- Transcription. Get a free program like Express Scribe and DIY or pay to have someone else do it:
- Video Search Engines. Tag and submit your content to one of these video search engines and/or pray it gets indexed:
- Blinkx.com
- CastTV.com
- Dabble.com
- Snipp.tv
- Trueveo.com
- MyLiveTime.com
- YouBooster.com
- HIgh Tech Solutions. Don’t know much about SCC MediaServer and EveryZing but they seem to solve the problem with some kind of automated technology. For a price.
One would also think with services that convert cell phone speech to text, like Jott and SpinVox, why wouldn’t these two companies also offer some kind of solution I’m looking for?
Please leave any suggestions/solutions in the comments.
