TechCrunch50 Conference
September 9, 2008 – 12:57 pmThe TechCrunch50 continues today and into tomorrow. From what I can gather it is conference of basically 50 online start-ups who each give a presentation that explains and demos their site/service.
Today there is a panel of some sort of "judges" that are giving feedback on each company that gives their spiel. A question from the judges that is popping up over and over is, "What is your business model?"
Yesterday, at one time when I was watching, there were four company’s presentations then the reps of those four companies were gathered together for a Q and A from the crowd. There also was angel investment panel where some dude interviewed them. Next up is a VC panel.
No surprise, but it seems many are focused on the social web. Also some interest in mobile devices and the mobile connectivity.
Last year this shindig was known as the TechCrunch40, because yes, only 40 participated. If you ask me, 50 start-ups are an awful lot of start-ups to wade through.
