Copy Error code -36

This error grinded my copying to a halt.  Namely, copying from an external hard drive connected to Time Capsule to Time Capsule itself.  It reads:

The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in “” could not be read or written. (Error code -36)

I didn’t dig into this error as I was foolishly trying to copy too much at one time, but maybe it is because something got misnamed, not named at all, or named with quotation marks.  Any clues to this error are welcome.
