Blogger finally changes?

So Google finally decides to do something with their blogging service Blogger and I first learn of it by logging into Blogger itself and not the tech media.  I’m surprised.  Looks like it may change for the worse.   A screen shot and some commentary after the jump:

I haven’t given it a go yet, but from the look of the image above, a multitude of changes are not in the works.  Blogger added a “Monetize” tab while removing the video upload button, at least for free hosted Blogger blogs.  Just what the Internet needs: an easier way for spammers to make money instead of facilitating better content creation.

The only other change I see on this create a post page is the option to “add location”.  (Maybe that prints out your coordinates or city.  I should have tried it.)  Also there is a slightly redesigned header; the useless “status” option is gone; and it looks like you can finally resize the entire WYSIWYG editor where you compose your post.

I’ll have to dig deeper into the changes, but I must ask myself: why am I still using Blogger?
