Brizzly is basically Twitter.com with a few extra features
August 25, 2009 – 8:09 amSo after getting my invite for Brizzly and signing up and in, I’m not overly impressed with this new third party, web-based Twitter service. Brizzly is just an ever so slightly beefed up version of Twitter.com. The basic navigation and choices are on the left instead of the right, like they are on Twitter. . . So without further ado, here’s some pros and cons of Brizzly:
Pros
- You don’t have to click twice for your direct message sent box, but how many times do you really access that?
- The Groups option is something Twitter.com doesn’t have, however, I did not use/test this feature.
- It includes linked pictures — from services like Twitpic — right there in the tweet (like in the above screen grab.)
- On the right side, Brizzly actually explains why a topic is trending. I’m not sure if humans take the time to research and write these definitions, but they are useful.
- Ability to retweet, although Twitter.com will soon have this feature as well.
- ‘j’ and ‘k’ scrolls tweets up and down.
Cons
- Excluding the few features above, Brizzly is basically Twitter.com in layout and functionality.
To be fair, I did not test Brizzly extensively. But unless it is improved upon I see little reason to essentially duplicate the functionality of Twitter.com.
