David Lynch makes a good point here, but I still can’t help wanting to stream movies from Netflix on the iPhone. And Hulu? Where you at?

While I’m at it, why won’t Apple, at the very least, allow apps to run in the background when the phone is plugged in and charging? Hasn’t Apple said it is an issue of battery life? Well not when it is plugged into the wall.

I’ll continue: now that Apple has allowed for 3rd parties to create hardware for the iPhone, will someone, for the love our sweet Lord and Savior, make an audio recording interface that will allow recording from an external mic and line-in.

And please approve a Commodore 64 emulator so my nostalgia can be satiated.

Lastly, here’s a current tweet:

Why is there not a iPhone dock that would tether to my wireless router, giving me wi-fi — and allow me place calls on my Mac?

I know, I know, I bitch and bitch about my iPhone here all the time, but I really do love it. For the most part. Until shit like the above screen grab happens.

I’m pretty sure, when I sync my iPhone to iTunes, all my apps are properly updated and transferred between computer and device and vice versa, but I get the “unknown error” pictured above every time. I check the version number of the apps on the phone and computer and both say I have the latest version. Still this error message pops up on every sync.

Simplify Media is an awesome application. It allows you to listen to music from your iTunes library remotely. If installed on your home computer, you can basically leave that computer running and then access all the music on it from your work computer, your iPhone, wherever Simplify Media is installed.

But when I went to install version 1.1.1 for the iphone an epic fail occurred. Not only does the icon appear with a non-functioning status bar (as pictured above), the app store still shows I have one update to install, and the phone throws the following message:

“You’ve already purchased this item but it hasn’t been downloaded. If you’re having trouble downloading it, open iTunes on your computer, select Check for Purchases, then sync your device to your computer.”

What the hell am I doing wrong here people?

Hopefully, the iPhone 2.1 software will do away with both of these issues.

According to MacRumors an iPhone tethering application called NetShare has been released to the iTunes app store, yanked, released again and now yanked again.

For those of you lucky enough to grab the $9.99 application there is a tutorial on the Wired Gadget Lab blog.

Somewhat foolishly, I decided to call Apple to learn the status of the NetShare application. I was on the line for nearly 47 minutes, most of it on hold. I finally spoke with someone who said he’d been looking into the issue all day. But he also said Apple does not share this kind of information. Then he said his best guess would be that it would be back online within a day if it is to come back at all. He echoed the obvious reason it might not be available now: it conflicts somehow with AT&T.

He said to check Wired and some other iPhone site I can’t remember now.
